Before the sun rose on Sunday, 5 April, some Logos Hope crew were already up at six preparing for the morning’s outdoor Easter sunrise service on the uppermost deck of the ship. The wooden cross, fresh flowers and a flowing white banner adorned the stage, symbolising the occasion. It turned out to be a beautiful morning, with the sun rising behind and a rainbow appearing before the congregation. It was God’s creation all around, showcasing His great work.
The atmosphere of the service was filled with joy and gratefulness, for Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. The crew members found it heartwarming to have the whole Logos Hope family gathered together to celebrate this special day. As Captain Tom Dyer shared his message, the sun rose higher.
“As the sun rises, we worship a God who is risen and who is victorious!” affirmed Captain Tom.
He reminded the ship’s company that God is great and victorious, but also personal. Just like how He called out to Mary by name when He appeared to her outside the tomb, He knows each and every one of us, too. We don’t need to be anxious or struggle to be in control of our lives, because He is our hope.
“In Him, we have a great hope, a great reconciliation, a great future, a great commission and a great family together on board Logos Hope.” he concluded.
The service ended with a rendition of the song “Because He Lives.” Through the song, the crew was reminded of the great hope Christians have in Jesus: “Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone.”
